Mission

What is IREC?

The IREC is an international rocketry competition for undergraduate and graduate students. Participating teams design rocket systems and evaluate their flight performance using either self-developed or commercial rocket engines.

Each year, more than 2,000 students, professors, and mentors from over 150 universities around the world take part in the event.

In the 2025 finals, 165 teams from 23 countries are expected to compete.

HANul’s Progress

For the 2025 IREC finals, Chosun University HANul Team and Seoul National University Hanaro Team are the only teams from South Korea to advance.

HANul Team is ready to compete on the global stage with innovative ideas and continuous effort.

Missions

2025 Mission

Development of RCS control technology

Attitude control of the rocket to reach the target altitude will be conducted using a cold gas-based RCS.

The goal is to acquire RCS control technology for the 2026 IREC mission.

2026 Mission

Development of ECSP-based RCS
(Reaction Control System)

Based on the RCS control technology acquired from the 2025 IREC participation, develop a gas generator-based RCS.

Attitude control of the rocket to reach the target altitude will be conducted using an ECSP-based gas generator RCS.

Core Idea is
Reaction Control System
